The690 is too tall for my 30" inseam, but the 500 EXC is about 3" taller; utterly ridiculous for my reach, both on and off road. I would have no worries whatsoever about using the 500 EXC as a full-on dualsport, putting as many street or secondary highway (65-ish MPH ambient traffic) miles on it as I do my 690.
